Program Activities
Psychosocial Program
The placement of children at Heartlands is a statutory process and therefor a child can only be admitted by means of a registered statutory social worker and with a valid court order. If the child concerned is falling within Heartlands’ criteria AND there is bed space, the process of admission will start through Centralised Admission at Department of Social Development.
The main responsibility of Heartlands` social worker is to coordinate and implement the psychosocial services with the focus of strengthening the child`s ability to work through the challenges facing them in their life space through individual and group therapy, and to find and secure suitable placements for them.
Health Care Program
The focus is to provide comprehensive related health care services to children to help them stay healthy and improve quality of life, which include age-appropriate immunizations, regular preventative care, malnutrition and professional medical treatment for acute illnesses.
